Applications, yield, and retention all climbed together, a combination admissions officers say they have not seen in decades [per The Root](https://www.theroot.com/example/hbcu-enrollment-surge). Any one of those numbers moving is normal. All three moving at once is a different signal.

Three Spelman sophomores raised $2 million for a campus safety app that maps walking routes and check-ins across the Atlanta University Center, in a round led by a Black-women-led fund [per AFROTECH](https://afrotech.com/example/spelman-founders).
